Welcome to the Gaelic Brass Official Site!

Browsing through this site will introduce you to the Gaelic Brass- including its members, music, videos, performance dates, and hiring information.

The Gaelic Brass is a brass trio consisting of two trumpets and a trombone. The band plays specifically Irish and Scottish folk tunes, but it also has other traditional music from countries such as England, France, and Italy. All the arrangements are owned and made by Liza Zumbrunnen and published by Waterton Brass Music. The band has over 100 arrangements including favorites such as Danny Boy, Scarborough Fair, The Irish Washerwoman, John Ryan's Polka, and many more.

Gaelic Brass also incorporates humor into the sets to make it a fun, family-friendly, audience-participating show. They have performed for three years now at the Kansas City Renaissance Festival in Bonner Springs, KS. Although the Gaelic Brass mostly performs in Renaissance attire and with European accents, the band has done “modern” gigs as well. Gaelic Brass has performed at multiple venues in the Kansas City area including Browne’s Irish Market, Scottish Highland Games, and Union Station’s Irish Cultural Center.

Mike O’Laughlin, the most published author in the world regarding Irish history and host of Irish Roots Café, describes the arrangements as “a musical interpretation” of Irish music. “[Gaelic Brass] is a different kind of band,” “very unique,” ”very creative and deserves a lot of applause.” “I’ve never heard anything like it.”

Gaelic Brass has also been featured twice on the Celtic MP3s Music Magazine. Click the first link to read our interview, and click the second link to here our recording of "An Poc Ar Buile."

The trio is willing to travel anywhere to perform. So if you want Gaelic Brass to perform at your event, then call Liza Zumbrunnen (director/arranger) at (913) 909-0277 or e-mail her at
